How much caffeine does an average cup of tea contain?
On average, a cup of our black tea has about half the caffeine of a cup of coffee. Most health organizations say that 'moderate caffeine consumption' for adults is about 300mg a day. That works out to about six cups of tea.
TYPICAL VALUES ARE: mg Caffeine/6 fl. oz. Serving
Tea 40
Roast and Ground Coffee 79.4 - 130.7
Instant Coffee 65.4 - 84.8
What are herbal teas and do they contain caffeine?
Herbals are not technically tea as they do not come from Camellia sinensis. They are commonly made from infusions of herbs, spices, fruits, and flowers. They are naturally caffeine free.
How do I make iced tea?
Making iced tea varies depending on how strong you would like your iced tea to taste and how big your pitcher is. As a general guideline please utilize the following recipe:
  1. Add 4 cups of freshly boiled water to 7 tea bags
  2. Brew for 5 minutes
  3. Remove tea bags and add 4 cups of cold water
  4. Sweeten if desired and serve over ice
What are antioxidants?
See Health Benefits. All tea has antioxidants (Black, Oolong, Green, and Rooibos Red Tea). Levels of antioxidants will vary by tea type due to the product process. A growing body of research indicates that the tannins in tea are naturally-occurring flavonoids which have strong antioxidant properties. Drinking tea is a natural and pleasant way to increase dietary intake of antioxidants.

Do Twinings Black Decaffeinated teas contain any caffeine?
It is not possible to remove 100% of the caffeine from the tea plant. Decaffeinated teas contain residual amounts of caffeine, of up to 2mg per 190mL cup.
Decaffeination Process: The Twinings Way
Twinings teas are decaffeinated using water and liquid carbon dioxide. This all natural process produces the best quality, primarily because the extraction process is carried out at a low temperature and in inert atmosphere. These conditions minimize the degradation of the aromatic components responsible for the tea flavor and aroma. Decaffeination removes most, but not all. As an alternative, herbal teas are naturally caffeine free. Liquid carbon dioxide is a natural substance, which leaves no residue in the decaffeinated tea. Decaffeinating does not affect the beneficial antioxidant properties of tea. The benefits of CO2 are that it only binds to the caffeine which allows for the retention of flavor and antioxidants.
Does tea contain Soy Lecithin and MSG?
Our teas do not contain any of the above.
